Persevering in Vigilance!

Dn 7:15-27; Lk 21:34-36

Today’s Gospel invites us to persevere in vigilance.

The major impediment to ‘staying awake’ could be the justification that ‘I have time.’

I remember the story in which of all the devils, the one that tempted people by saying, ‘Take your time; no need to rush’ was praised highly by Beelzebul, the prince of devils.

As such, Jesus warns us against lethargy and complacency. We can add to this list newer forms of modern addictions that render us dull and self-satisfied.

If we can identify what impedes our vigilance, then real ‘staying awake’ is possible.
